Turning cold from the east

Any lingering rain and cloud should clear away to the west through the course of the night bringing some colder conditions in by the morning. It will be a cloudy start to the day tomorrow but a cold one, especially in the west of the region where some breaks in the cloud overnight will give a slight frost. Overnight lows between -1 and 1 degrees.

A dull day to come on Wednesday then and beginning to feel rather cold with a nippy wind. The cloud in the east will be thick enough in the east of the county to produce some occasional light rain or drizzle, this will become more widespread through the afternoon and will fall as sleet at times over higher ground. Temperatures between 6 and 8 degrees.

Looking ahead to the end of the week and it turns much colder as a raw easterly stream establishes itself. Strengthening winds will make it feel bitter at times. Overnight frosts will become a returning theme along with the risk of sleet and at times snow showers, especially on Saturday.
